Abstract Christas, representations of female figures crucified in place of Christ, have been criticized for changing and de-historicizing Christ, and re-inscribing narratives of suffering and victimhood onto female bodies. One Christa sculpture, Christine on the Cross , is used to explore the ambiguities and indeterminacies around such figures. There is ambiguity over whether this depiction of a tortured female body is one of solidarity with suffering or mere voyeurism. The fact that the sculptor is a male adds to the indeterminacy. I have an article in the new issue of Theology and Sexuality, 16.1 . This essay, entitled “ Ratum et Consummatum : Refiguring Non-Penetrative Sexual Activity Theologically, in Light of Intersex Conditions” , is a version of a paper I gave to the Divinity Research Seminar at the University of Glasgow in November 2009, and I’m grateful to everyone who contributed questions and comments on that occasion, as well as to Julie Clague and Vicky Gunn for making it possible for me to travel to Glasgow in the first place. This article is an offshoot from my book on intersex, Sex and Uncertainty in the Body of Christ: Intersex Conditions and Christian Theology , which was published last month. Spiritual Care Framework Outline for Gender Clinics (NHS England Context)

From 2017-19 I led a project on spiritual care for people awaiting or undergoing gender transition with NHS gender clinics, funded by the Sir Halley Stewart Trust . One of the resources I devised was a framework for spiritual care, adaptable to the needs of specific clinics and other gender services. The framework is now offered here on an open-access basis and can be used or adapted with appropriate credit. Specialist chaplains will have a good knowledge and understanding of trans people and their particular concerns and challenges.
